IBO Player Setup Guide: Samsung, LG, Firestick & Android

IPTV Technology Writer ·

Quick Answer

How to install IBO Player, find your MAC address and device key, add your playlist on the IBO website and activate the app on any TV.

IBO Player setup on a Smart TV

What is IBO Player?

IBO Player is an IPTV player app available on Samsung and LG Smart TVs, Android TV, Amazon Firestick, iPhone, Apple TV and Windows. It is especially popular on Smart TVs, where apps such as TiviMate are not available. Like every player, it does not include channels: you add your IPTV subscription and the app shows live TV, a 7-day programme guide, films and series. Unusually, you add your playlist through the IBO website rather than typing it on the TV. This guide covers installation, adding your playlist, activation and fixes for common problems.

Before you start

  • Your IPTV login: Xtream Codes details (server address, username, password) or an M3U link. British IPTV sends both by email and WhatsApp.
  • A phone or computer with a web browser.
  • Your TV connected to the internet, ideally by cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

Step 1: Install IBO Player

DeviceWhere to find IBO Player
Samsung Smart TVApps, then search
LG Smart TVLG Content Store or Apps
Android TV, Google TV, Nvidia ShieldGoogle Play Store
Amazon FirestickAmazon Appstore, or Downloader from the official website
iPhone, iPad, Apple TVApp Store

There are several apps with similar names, such as IBO Pro Player. Install the one recommended by your provider, and only from the official store or website.

Step 2: Find your MAC address and device key

Open IBO Player. The first screen shows a MAC address (six pairs of letters and numbers separated by colons) and a device key. These identify your TV. Write them down carefully, or take a photo with your phone. If you need them later, they are also shown in the app's settings or about screen.

Step 3: Add your playlist on the IBO website

  1. On your phone or computer, open the official IBO Player website.
  2. Choose the option to manage or log in to your device.
  3. Enter the MAC address and device key exactly as shown on the TV.
  4. Select Add playlist.
  5. Choose Xtream Codes if offered and enter the server address (including http:// and any port), username and password. Otherwise, paste your M3U link.
  6. Give the playlist a name, for example British IPTV, and save.

Xtream Codes is the better option because the programme guide and the films and series sections load automatically.

Step 4: Restart and load your channels

Close IBO Player completely on the TV and open it again. Select your playlist from the list. The app downloads your channels, guide and on-demand library, which can take a minute or two the first time. You will then see sections for Live TV, Movies and Series.

Step 5: Activation

IBO Player includes a free trial period after first installation, usually around a week. After that, the developer charges a one-off activation fee per device, paid on their website using your MAC address. This fee goes to the app developer, not to your IPTV provider, and is separate from your subscription. Test your service during the free period before activating. The developer's current price is shown on their website.

Using IBO Player day to day

  • Favourites: highlight a channel and press the OK or menu button to add it to favourites.
  • Programme guide: open the EPG view to see what is on for the next seven days.
  • Search: find channels, films or series by name.
  • Parental lock: set a PIN in settings to lock adult categories.
  • Hide categories: hide groups you never watch so lists load faster.

Troubleshooting

ProblemFix
Playlist does not appearCheck the MAC address and key on the website, then fully restart the TV by unplugging it for a minute

IBO Player or another app?

On a Samsung or LG TV, IBO Player is usually the best all-round option. On a Firestick or Android TV, TiviMate offers more features such as recording and multi-view. Compare the options in our guides for Samsung, LG and the best IPTV player for Firestick, or the full player comparison.

Set it up with a free trial

Install IBO Player and add the login from a free 6-hour trial, with no card needed. You can test the service during IBO's own free period before paying for anything. Our main setup guide covers every other device.
